About this trip
What a Mauritius trip looks like
Mauritius is ringed by reef, which means the water inside it is flat and swimmable almost everywhere. That is the whole appeal, and it is why most trips stay in one hotel rather than moving.
The north around Grand Baie is livelier and closer to the restaurants and boats. The south and west are quieter, with the better scenery: Chamarel, Black River Gorges, Le Morne under its mountain. A week is enough for one base and day trips from it.
It is an unusually easy trip: English and French are both widely spoken, the roads are good, and the island is small enough that nothing is more than two hours away.

The north-coast hub: boats, restaurants and the busiest stretch of beach on the island.
Île aux Cerfs
An island off the east coast reached by catamaran, with a long sandbar and water sports.
Chamarel
The seven-coloured earths, the waterfall above them, and a rum distillery on the same road.
Le Morne
The basalt mountain on the south-west tip, UNESCO-listed, with the island’s best lagoon beneath it.
Port Louis
The capital: the Caudan waterfront, the central market and Fort Adelaide above it.
Black River Gorges
The forested interior, with viewpoints over the whole south and the island’s last native woodland.
Grand Bassin
A crater lake in the mountains, sacred to the island’s Hindu community, with tall statues at its edge.
Pamplemousses
A botanical garden in the north, known for giant water lilies, spice trees and tortoises.
Blue Bay
A marine park in the south-east, with glass-bottom boats over the coral.
Trou aux Biches
A calmer north-west beach, better for swimming than Grand Baie and popular for snorkelling.

Are the prices per person?+
We quote per person on twin sharing, and we quote per enquiry rather than publishing a rate. Prices move with your travel dates, the hotel category and availability on the day you book. A published number would be wrong for most people who read it.
Can I change the hotels or the number of nights?+
Yes. Tell us what you want changed (a cheaper hotel, one night less, a different city) and we revise the itinerary until it fits, then confirm the booking.
Is the visa included?+
Free visa on arrival for Indian passport holders, up to 90 days. Visa fees are not included in the package unless the quote says so, and we confirm the current requirement for your passport and dates before you pay.
When is the best time to go?+
May to December, outside the cyclone months. Travelling outside that window is usually cheaper, and we will tell you honestly what you would be trading away.
What do you need to confirm the booking?+
